Resilience Hub

We have had an exciting journey these past five years partnering with the City of San Leandro and our immediate neighbors to develop our church into a Resilience Hub for the community. A resilience hub is a neighborhood center that integrates disaster preparedness, community care and belonging, and sustainability to be “ready for anything.”

We have a steering committee made up of 4 church members and 9 Lewis Avenue neighbors. We meet once a month at 7:00 p.m. on a week night to plan neighborhood events, coordinate care for the community garden, work on emergency preparedness, and address the neighborhood’s top concerns (crime, traffic calming, etc.)

We installed solar panels on the roof of the church building to be able to serve the community during power outages. We will open the church for neighbors to take shelter in the building, power up their computers and cell phones, store medicines in our refrigerator, and cook in the church kitchen.

Contact Judy at judysquare422@gmail.com if you would like to sit in on a meeting or volunteer to be a part of the Hub.
